Discover the Performance Beauty behind
a So Beautiful diamond.

Every diamond has a shape. But only exceptional craftsmanship, optical precision, and light performance create the visual experience we call SOBeauty™—the Performance Beauty that makes a diamond So Beautiful.

Chapter 01 · Shape

Every Diamond Begins with Shape.

Shape is the first thing we see, but an outline is only the beginning. The true character of a diamond emerges from the relationship between its design, proportions, facet arrangement, craftsmanship, and the way it returns light.

01

Round Brilliant

The Round Brilliant is engineered around rotational symmetry and a highly structured facet design. Its familiar outline provides the foundation for advanced optical precision, including qualifying Hearts & Arrows performance.

02

Fancy Shapes

Oval, Pear, Cushion, Emerald, Radiant, Princess, Marquise, and other Fancy Shapes each express beauty differently. Their performance must be understood through the visual goals and facet architecture of the individual shape.

03

Design Before Grade

Two diamonds may share similar grading information while presenting very different outlines, proportions, contrast patterns, and face-up character. Shape teaches us to look beyond the name on the report.

04

Fulfilling Its Potential

Every diamond has a shape. Not every diamond fulfills the full potential of that shape. ShapeOfDiamond exists to help consumers recognize the difference before choosing a diamond of lasting meaning.

The First Question

Not simply “Which shape do I like?”

The deeper question is: How beautifully has this particular shape been designed and brought to life?

The Visible Form

Shape creates identity.

The outline establishes the diamond’s personality—classic, elongated, architectural, soft, bold, or romantic. It is the visual language through which the diamond first speaks.

The Hidden Structure

Science reveals performance.

Beneath the outline lies a precise arrangement of facets and angles. Their interaction determines how light, contrast, motion, and pattern become visible to the eye.

Shape begins the journey.
Science reveals how that shape has been transformed into performance.

The next chapter moves beyond appearance alone—into the craftsmanship, precision, and light behavior that bring a diamond to life.
Chapter 02 · Science

Beyond the 4Cs.

The 4Cs provide the essential language of diamond grading. Science expands that language by examining how design, facet precision, optical symmetry, and light performance work together in the finished diamond.

The Traditional Foundation

The 4Cs describe important qualities.

Carat measures weight. Color and Clarity describe rarity characteristics. Cut evaluates craftsmanship within an established grading framework. Together, they provide an indispensable starting point.

The Performance Question

Science explains what the eye experiences.

Brilliance, fire, scintillation, contrast, optical symmetry, and light leakage help explain why diamonds with similar grades can present very different visual experiences.

ShapeThe design the diamond is intended to express.
CraftsmanshipThe precision used to create that design.
LightHow the finished diamond gathers and returns light.
PatternThe balance of brightness, contrast, and optical structure.
EvidenceWhat can be seen, measured, and independently documented.
The Fifth C

Craftsmanship · Certainty · Certification

The Fifth C does not replace the traditional 4Cs. It asks the next set of questions: How carefully was the diamond created? What evidence supports its performance? How independently can that evidence be understood?

01

Craftsmanship

The planning, proportion choices, facet alignment, polishing discipline, and willingness to sacrifice rough weight when necessary to pursue a more beautiful finished diamond.

02

Certainty

Confidence supported by evidence connected to the actual diamond—images, measurements, optical-symmetry information, and light-performance analysis rather than description alone.

03

Certification

Independent documentation that records what was examined, measured, imaged, and verified according to the scope of the issuing laboratory or performance standard.

Two Scientific Pathways

Every shape deserves the right science.

Round Brilliant Hearts & Arrows diamonds and Fancy Shapes do not share one identical optical blueprint. Each should be evaluated according to the design it is meant to achieve.

The 4Cs create a shared language for identifying and comparing diamonds. They remain fundamental to responsible diamond education.

What each C contributes

  • Carat: the weight of the diamond.
  • Color: the degree of body color within the laboratory’s scale.
  • Clarity: the nature, size, position, and visibility of internal and external characteristics.
  • Cut: the quality of fashioning according to the laboratory’s methodology, where an overall cut grade applies.

The 4Cs tell us a great deal. They do not always tell us everything the eye will experience.

Light performance describes how the finished diamond returns, separates, blocks, and releases light as it is viewed and moved.

The visual language of performance

  • Brilliance: the return of white light.
  • Fire: flashes of spectral color created by dispersion.
  • Scintillation: changing flashes of brightness and contrast in motion.
  • Contrast: the dark-and-light structure that gives the diamond definition and life.
  • Light leakage: areas where light escapes rather than returning toward the viewer.

No single observation tells the whole story. Beauty emerges from the balance among them.

For qualifying Round Brilliant diamonds, Hearts & Arrows patterns provide visible evidence of advanced optical symmetry created through precise three-dimensional facet alignment.

A pattern should be demonstrated—not merely named

  • Balanced Hearts are viewed from the pavilion.
  • Aligned Arrows are viewed from the crown.
  • The images should belong to the actual diamond.
  • Pattern precision should be considered together with overall light performance.

Hearts & Arrows is not a substitute for beauty. It is evidence of the precision capable of supporting exceptional Round Brilliant performance.

Fancy Shapes require a different kind of understanding because their facet arrangements, outlines, and visual goals vary widely.

Shape-specific evaluation may consider

  • Outline balance, symmetry, shoulders, wings, corners, and length-to-width character.
  • Brightness and contrast distribution across the face-up diamond.
  • Bow-tie severity where applicable.
  • Windowing, dead zones, or distracting dark areas.
  • How proportion choices affect both face-up beauty and retained weight.

The right question is not whether every Fancy Shape behaves like a Round Brilliant. It is whether the diamond fulfills the performance potential of its own design.

Diamond cutting is a sequence of decisions. Every decision affects weight, spread, symmetry, durability, pattern, and light behavior.

Craftsmanship becomes visible through

  • Intentional planning and proportion selection.
  • Consistent facet meet-points and three-dimensional alignment.
  • Polishing discipline and surface quality.
  • Balanced weight retention rather than weight retention at any cost.
  • A coherent visual result that serves the intended shape.

Science helps the consumer see the consequences of those choices in the finished diamond.

Confidence grows when performance claims are supported by evidence tied to the actual diamond.

Useful evidence may include

  • High-resolution identifying imagery.
  • Actual Hearts & Arrows or optical-symmetry images.
  • Light-return and leakage analysis.
  • Three-dimensional proportion and facet-alignment information.
  • Shape-aesthetic assessment for Fancy Shapes.
  • Clearly stated criteria and thresholds.

Evidence does not replace the eye. It helps explain what the eye is seeing and why.

Science can measure light behavior, document precision, and reveal the workmanship behind a diamond. Yet the purpose of all this knowledge is not measurement for its own sake.

The purpose is to understand why exceptional performance creates a stronger visual and emotional response.

Science explains how performance is created. The next chapter explores why that performance feels so beautiful.

The Science Philosophy
The 4Cs describe essential diamond qualities.
Science reveals design, precision, craftsmanship, and light behavior.
Evidence turns a performance claim into something the consumer can understand.

When these elements work together, performance becomes more than technical excellence.
It becomes the beginning of beauty.
Chapter 03 · SOBeauty™

The Soul of Performance Beauty

Science explains how a diamond performs. This philosophy explains why exceptional performance becomes something we feel—why precision, light, and craftsmanship can create a diamond that simply appears So Beautiful.

SOBeauty — Performance Beauty. Performance that makes a diamond So Beautiful
The Standard

ShapeOfBrilliant®

The measurable benchmark for exceptional Round Brilliant Hearts & Arrows performance—built upon optical precision, balanced patterning, light performance, craftsmanship, and documented evidence.

The Soul

SOBeauty

The emotional expression of exceptional performance—the moment precision becomes beauty, light becomes feeling, and the finished diamond creates an unforgettable response.

SOBeauty is the soul of the ShapeOfBrilliant Standard.

A standard can define exceptional performance.
The philosophy reveals why that performance feels So Beautiful.
Understanding Performance Beauty

Where standard and soul become one.

ShapeOfBrilliant and SOBeauty are two sides of the same philosophy. One establishes the performance standard. The other expresses the beauty and emotion created when that standard comes alive.

01

Beauty Begins with Performance

Exceptional beauty is not created by a label. It begins with disciplined craftsmanship, optical precision, balanced light return, and a design that fulfills the potential of the diamond.

02

Performance Becomes Emotion

When brilliance, fire, scintillation, contrast, and movement work in harmony, technical performance becomes a visual experience that can stop us in our tracks.

03

The Standard Gives Confidence

The ShapeOfBrilliant Standard gives exceptional Round Brilliant Hearts & Arrows performance a clear educational benchmark supported by visible and understandable evidence.

04

The Soul Gives Meaning

This philosophy connects measurable achievement with human appreciation. It explains why exceptional performance matters beyond numbers, grades, and specifications.

The Performance Beauty Journey

From precision to a feeling remembered.

This chapter brings together the science already learned and the emotional experience it creates. Open each lesson to discover how the ShapeOfBrilliant Standard defines performance—and how its philosophy gives that standard a soul.

A diamond may be rare, valuable, and well graded without delivering an exceptional visual experience. Performance Beauty begins when the finished diamond brings craftsmanship, optical precision, and light together in harmony.

What creates the possibility of Performance Beauty?

  • Purposeful planning and disciplined cutting.
  • Balanced proportions and facet relationships.
  • Strong brilliance, fire, and scintillation.
  • Organized contrast and responsive movement.
  • Evidence that helps the viewer understand what the eye is seeing.

Beauty may feel immediate, but the performance behind it is carefully created.

SOBeauty™ is the ShapeOfDiamond philosophy of Performance Beauty. It was coined to explain the point where technical excellence becomes a visual and emotional experience.

It is not another cut grade, laboratory grade, or commercial collection. It does not replace the 4Cs or independent certification. It gives meaning to the performance they help describe and document.

The idea is simple

Performance can be examined. Beauty can be experienced. This is where evidence and emotion meet.

ShapeOfBrilliant® is the educational performance standard for exceptional Round Brilliant Hearts & Arrows diamonds.

It is not another laboratory cut grade. It is not another commercial diamond brand. It is a benchmark that brings together the qualities that allow an exceptional Round Brilliant to fulfill its optical potential.

The standard considers

  • Hearts & Arrows optical symmetry.
  • Precise three-dimensional facet alignment.
  • Brilliance, fire, scintillation, and contrast.
  • Balanced patterning and responsive visual life.
  • Craftsmanship supported by actual-diamond documentation.

A standard can define what exceptional performance requires. It can organize evidence, establish a benchmark, and help consumers compare what has been achieved.

But a standard alone cannot explain the feeling created by a diamond that appears alive, balanced, and unforgettable.

The relationship

ShapeOfBrilliant defines the standard. SOBeauty is its soul.

One gives performance structure. The other gives performance meaning. Together, they connect the measurable achievement of the diamond with the emotional response of the person who sees it.

The ShapeOfBrilliant Standard applies specifically to exceptional Round Brilliant Hearts & Arrows diamonds. Fancy Shapes follow different facet architectures and therefore require shape-specific evaluation.

  • Round Brilliant: the ShapeOfBrilliant Standard provides the performance benchmark.
  • Fancy Shapes: shape aesthetics, facet design, bow-tie control, contrast distribution, and light performance must be understood according to the intended design.

The philosophy belongs to both pathways. It explains that explains why exceptional performance—regardless of shape—can become So Beautiful.

Personal taste determines which shape, facet style, and visual personality a person loves. Yet craftsmanship, outline balance, optical symmetry, light return, contrast distribution, and distracting visual defects can still be examined and compared.

This philosophy respects both truths. It does not reduce beauty to a formula, and it does not dismiss performance as merely subjective.

The complete view

Evidence helps us understand the diamond. Emotion tells us why it matters.

ShapeOfDiamond® remains the educational foundation. The ShapeOfBrilliant Standard and its Performance Beauty philosophy can then be expressed through distinct commercial collections without becoming commercial definitions themselves.

  • ECOMARK® SOB-Prime™: a premium commercial collection built upon the ShapeOfBrilliant Standard.
  • ECOMARK® SOB-Premium™: a higher-selection expression of the same standard, with tighter performance criteria.
  • STARVINCI® Lumina APEX™ and ECOFIRE MAXX™: Signature Core Diamond collections that build upon the performance foundation while carrying the emotional philosophy into the StarVinci experience.

The education remains independent. The collections become expressions of what that education makes possible.

The Performance Beauty Philosophy

Science explains how light performs.
The ShapeOfBrilliant Standard defines exceptional Round Brilliant performance.
Its philosophy gives that performance its soul.

Because true beauty is not simply measured.
It is felt. It is remembered. It is So Beautiful.
Chapter 04 · Certification

Evidence Behind the Diamond.

Certification does not create beauty. It provides independent documentation of what was examined, graded, measured, imaged, or verified—helping the consumer distinguish between a statement and supported evidence.

01

Identification

A laboratory report connects the document to the actual diamond through measurements, identifying characteristics, inscriptions, and other recorded information.

02

Grading

The traditional 4Cs and related characteristics provide the established foundation for describing rarity, quality, and craftsmanship within the laboratory’s stated methodology.

03

Performance Evidence

Additional analysis may document light behavior, optical symmetry, Hearts & Arrows precision, shape aesthetics, or other performance characteristics beyond general grading.

04

Consumer Confidence

The strongest documentation clearly states what was evaluated, how it was evaluated, and which conclusions apply to the actual diamond.

Different Documents · Different Purposes

Know what has been graded—and what has been demonstrated.

A traditional grading report and a performance-focused certification can complement one another, but they should not be treated as interchangeable.

A laboratory report is designed to identify and grade the diamond according to the laboratory’s established methodology.

It commonly records

  • Carat weight and physical measurements.
  • Color and clarity grades.
  • Cut grade where the laboratory assigns one.
  • Polish, symmetry, fluorescence, and proportions.
  • Plotting, identifying characteristics, and inscriptions where applicable.

This creates a reliable common language for identification, rarity, and comparison.

A report can be accurate within its intended scope while leaving other questions unanswered.

Questions that may require additional evidence

  • How evenly does the diamond return light?
  • How are brilliance, fire, scintillation, and contrast balanced?
  • Is a Hearts & Arrows claim supported by images of the actual diamond?
  • Does a Fancy Shape have a balanced outline and pleasing shape aesthetics?
  • Are bow-ties, windowing, leakage, or dead areas present?
  • How did proportion and weight-retention choices affect face-up beauty?

Understanding scope prevents the consumer from asking one document to answer questions it was never designed to address.

Performance-focused documentation examines how the finished diamond manages light and how precisely the intended design has been executed.

Depending on the issuing standard, it may include

  • Light return, brilliance, fire, scintillation, and contrast analysis.
  • Optical symmetry and facet-alignment assessment.
  • Hearts & Arrows imagery for qualifying Round Brilliants.
  • Shape-aesthetic and outline evaluation for qualifying Fancy Shapes.
  • Actual-diamond photography and identifying evidence.
  • Three-dimensional measurements or digital modeling.

The value lies not in adding more labels, but in making important performance claims understandable and reviewable.

Representative diagrams can educate, but they do not prove the performance of a specific diamond. Stronger confidence comes from evidence connected to the actual stone.

Look for a clear connection

  • The report number and laser inscription where applicable.
  • Actual images rather than stock examples.
  • Measurements and proportions matching the documented diamond.
  • Clearly labeled optical or light-performance results.
  • A transparent explanation of the criteria used.

The document should help the consumer trace the conclusion back to the diamond being considered.

A high traditional cut grade does not automatically establish a precise Hearts & Arrows pattern. That optical-symmetry claim deserves its own diamond-specific evidence.

Meaningful documentation should show

  • Hearts and Arrows images from the actual diamond.
  • Balance, consistency, alignment, and separation within the pattern.
  • How optical precision relates to broader light performance.
  • The criteria used to determine whether the pattern qualifies.

The goal is not to treat the pattern as decoration, but to understand it as evidence of advanced craftsmanship.

Fancy Shapes often require broader visual and performance evidence because one universal cut grade cannot express the full range of their designs.

Useful evaluation may address

  • Outline uniformity, shoulders, wings, corners, and overall shape aesthetics.
  • Brightness, fire, scintillation, and contrast distribution.
  • Bow-tie severity where applicable.
  • Windowing, leakage, dead areas, or uneven light return.
  • The relationship between face-up beauty, proportions, and retained weight.

Certification is most meaningful when the criteria respect what that particular shape is intended to achieve.

  1. Which laboratory or organization issued the document?
  2. Which characteristics were graded, measured, imaged, or evaluated?
  3. Does the document apply to this exact diamond?
  4. Is an overall cut grade available for this shape?
  5. Are performance claims supported by actual-diamond evidence?
  6. Are the evaluation criteria clearly explained?
  7. What does the document establish—and what remains a matter of personal viewing and preference?

A confident consumer does not simply ask whether a diamond is certified. A confident consumer asks what the certification actually proves.

The Certification Philosophy
Grading identifies and describes the diamond.
Performance evidence helps demonstrate how it behaves.
Independent documentation gives the consumer a clearer basis for understanding both.

Certification does not replace beauty, emotion, or personal judgment.
It gives those choices a stronger foundation of evidence.

A Final Word from Lolo

Hello, my friend...

If you've made it this far, thank you.

It means you've taken the time to understand something that many people never have the opportunity to discover.

When I first entered the diamond industry, I thought I was learning about diamonds.

Over the years, I realized I was really learning about people.

Every diamond eventually becomes part of someone's story—a proposal, an anniversary, a celebration, a promise, or a memory treasured for generations.

That realization changed the way I looked at every diamond.

Why do some diamonds leave a lasting impression, while others simply sparkle?

The answer was not found in a single grading report or a single number.

It was found in the relationship between craftsmanship, light, performance, and the emotions they awaken.

That journey eventually became ShapeOfDiamond®.

It was not created to tell people which diamond to buy. It was created to help people understand why exceptional diamonds are truly exceptional.

One day, you may choose a diamond from us. Or you may choose one from another jeweler somewhere else in the world.

Either choice is perfectly fine with me.

Because if ShapeOfDiamond® has helped you make that decision with greater confidence, then it has already fulfilled its purpose.

Knowledge should never belong to one company. It should belong to the people who seek it.

My hope is simple.

That from this day forward, every time you see a beautiful diamond, you'll pause for just a moment—not simply to admire its sparkle, but to appreciate the craftsmanship, the science, and the passion that made that beauty possible.

Thank you for allowing me to share this journey with you.

I hope it has helped you discover not only how diamonds perform, but why they continue to capture our hearts.

May every diamond you choose tell a story that is uniquely yours.
