Why OPUS ONE Uses One Brilliant Planning Standard
Traditional fancy-shape diamonds can vary dramatically in beauty, performance, and price even when their reported 4Cs appear similar. OPUS ONE explains those inconsistencies before replacing them with one transparent StarVinci planning methodology.
Unlike the Round Brilliant exception, major laboratories generally do not assign one universal overall Cut Grade to fancy shapes. Excellent Polish and Symmetry alone do not guarantee exceptional light performance.
Traditional cutting may preserve rough weight to reach commercial carat thresholds. Extra depth, thick girdles, or retained weight can improve yield while reducing brilliance, fire, and visual life.
Length-to-width ratios, facet arrangements, crowns, pavilions, and depth combinations vary widely. Two diamonds with similar 4Cs may therefore behave very differently in motion and light.
Demand for certain shapes and proportions rises and falls with fashion. Premiums and discounts may reflect popularity or inventory pressure rather than craftsmanship alone.
